About me
Zoe Sheli Sameth, writer, poet, playwright and songwriter discovered at an early age her love of writing, winning awards for her fiction short stories starting in junior high. Her one-woman play, “Taste of Enlightenment”, about her experiences living in Sri Lanka during the start of the 26-year civil war, won awards for Best Play, Best Director and Best Actor at the Marin Fringe Festival. For more than fifteen years Zoe has been a member of the Veterans Writers Group founded by Maxine Hong Kingston. In 2022 Zoe started attending Soldiers Songs and Voices, a program providing healing for military veterans through songwriting. Zoe was invited to join the group after a song she wrote from both a soldier’s and civilian’s perspective was heard on-line. Zoe also learned mindfulness practices in Sri Lanka which she has since shared with thousands of others as a resource for healing trauma.
