About me
Geneffa Jahan is a woman of South Asian Muslim descent whose diasporic journey has taken her family from North India to East Africa, London (where she was born), Canada (where she was raised), and California (where she has resided since 1998). She has taught English at Cabrillo College since fall 2000 where she curates cultural spaces to broaden diversity and supports students from underrepresented backgrounds. She has been an active member of the Berkeley Veteran's Writing Group for several years and has a piece on intergenerational trauma forthcoming in their second volume of Veterans of War, Veterans of Peace. Her first collection, Spilling the Chai: Poems about Family and Food (2024), approaches the taboo topic of family violence in immigrant communities.
