About me
Amalee Bea (she/they) is a Blackqueer writer, artist, and curator of warm communal spaces based in Oakland, California (Ohlone Land). Their written work spans experimental poetry, nonfiction, science fiction, and prose. Her practice also includes painting, installation, and conceptual work. A dispatch from other worlds/within dreamscapes, Amalee's writing often relies on sensuality, metaphor, and symbol rather than logic to make meaning - highlighting the instability, limits, and potentialities of language for liberation, healing, and knowledge. Their poetry has been published in The Ana magazine and they were selected as a 2023 writer-in-residence for RADAR Productions' Show Us Your Spines Residency."
